Visual Note Taking

Ever seen a TED talk? TED Talks use the most common way of communication. Spoken communication. Which is the most accepted, widely understood and most diverse way to communicate today. With hundreds of languages and dialects to use, I’d be surprised if we needed anything else.

AND we do, we have so many options. One of the ways that I love to communicate is through visuals.

Just like verbal communication, visual communication has been a worldwide and timeless way of expression. You see, people have actually been expressing communication through visuals even before technology even started. We started with cavemen/cavewomen making cave paintings for communication. This would help them express with other cavemen/cavewomen what their plans were, what food they wanted to catch, their ideas and so forth. That's a form of art. Same with sign language, paintings, etc.

This assignment presented me with the opportunity to be able to speak through visuals. While there are many ways that we can communicate, it is often important to also understand our way of perception. What people communicate to one another is often taken in millions of different ways. Which is why my assignment may look different from the next persons. Which is fine, because our brains take what we think is most important and that ranges from person to person.

I probable sketched about 5 different times before getting my end product. Each time learning about something that I had completely ignored or disregarded the past time(s). This assignment helped me realize that a problem or issue should be assessed multiple times before reaching your conclusion of what is being expressed to you. I learned to emphasize the important stuff and realize what is not as important. Which is hard and different from what I’ve learned in the past : “EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT”, “DON’T MISS ONE THING”, “IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND IT THE FIRST TIME, YOU NEVER WILL”.

But what I learned from this is to try again, and again, and again, and maybe even a few more times. Cause you’ll eventually understand. And if not, that’s what professors are for. (LOL)

Here’s my attempt :)
