Completing a suggestion

When I started working with MacOS, using Command key instead of Control key for doing copy/paste came up as a shock. Why do that? Soon after I realized it was actually easier, more intuitive, I might say ergonomic.

Fish shell use ctrl+f shortcut for completing a suggestion. Using the ctrl key forces me to change my hand position over the keyboard. As an alternative, we can use space+enter shortcut as a replacement.

Here’s how to set it up on iTerm2.

Open Preferences cmd+, and select Keys

Preferences ➡ ️ Keys

Click on the + at the bottom to add a new shortcut.

Click on Click to Set field of Keyboard short. Hit shift+enter in your keyboard.

On Action field select Send Hex Codes and type:

Aliases

bash aliases like alias k=kubectl become

kubectl autocomplete
