Lessons Learned From Lockdown

Cheers to the Next One!

Saying this past year was a transformative one would be an understatement. It was as if the sky fell from the heavens to the earth and time stood still. 2020 was a year unlike any other. It has shown a lot about our leaders, our society, and ourselves as a whole.

How we stood the test of time, surely tested our resolve. The solitude from the lockdown gave us a lot of time to reflect and think about what is important and with the pandemic, still ongoing there is plenty of fear, sickness, and death in supply.

It taught us the value of being connected with each other when so far apart. Lessons learned from Covid were of value importance.

As we hunkered down with our loved ones, slipping slowly into a state of cabin fever, we realize a lot of things about ourselves that we just didn’t have time for.

With the lockdowns being lifted there are still some places that aren’t so fortunate. Some places being forced back into lockdown. Although it will probably never ever, ever, ever, hopefully never ever, ever happen again, (me being optimistic.)

Here are some lessons learned from the pandemic that we can use if we do happen to find ourselves in a similar situation again in the future.

Unless you’re an extrovert and need human contact to keep on going in life and believing when people aren’t noticing you you cease to exist. But if you’ve never been alone longer than the eight hours you sleep then try giving a break a chance.

While humans are social creatures of instinct, humans also need time to be alone to rest and rejuvenate their bodies and their minds. This alone time is good for concentration, productivity, relationships, and empathy. The more time we are alone the more we value the time we are together.

Isolation can be a great thing from time to time to clear your mind of all distractions, get everything organized and focus more on yourself.
