Amongst all the things Seattle has to offer, I’d rank the Tulip Farm in the highest ranks. You look at the rows of multi-colored Tulips beautifully lined adjacent to each other, and realize you’re not in the Netherlands but actually just in Seattle area. The backdrop of the mountains makes it even more beautiful.
The best time to go there is mid-to-end April when the tulips are in full-bloom. Go there little earlier, half of the beds won’t have flowered, go little later they will all be dead. Of course there will be lots of crowds on the weekends, but it doesn’t bother me that much. After all, it’s better to enjoy the full-bloom than go on a day with less crowds and see dead flowers (I did that too once when my parents were visiting in August 2016).
On one of the weekends in April, they also have Skagit Valley Tulip Festival ongoing where the town center of Mount Vernon gets lined with lots of artisan shops similar to a Farmer’s Market. I’d say it’s not worth especially driving for that, but if you’re in the neighborhood anyways and have time to spare do stop by once. All in all, Tulip Farm is one of the most magical things Seattle area has to offer and should be on everyone’s itinerary.
