Math

(We know that math is what is needed in life. This is just a funny poem. DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.)

I know that you help in some way
To concentrate and focus, I say.
But do we really need the higher level of you?
When enjoyment in you becomes very few?

Math can be beautiful, I agree,
But without those boring sums which keep pestering me.
We have to be careful though,
And, to getting it wrong we have to say, NO.

Slowly, slowly,
We solve it carefully,
Not really happily,
Only because those boring things we have to finish quickly.

Textbook math is quite mandatory I know,
And quite terrible also,
And if I could, my friends
I would erase math from every lane and bents.

I would do a million slices
And wouldn’t forget to put in some tasty spices,
And with relish and satisfaction I would
Eat it up, only if I could.

Trigonometry, Algebra
Textbook math they make us do extra, extra?
(Though I haven’t met,
That trigonometry yet.)

But in a trice,
Before you even realize
That horrible stuff has dropped in your math book
And after that my dear, it has filled every cranny and nook.

Pages and pages of that horrible stuff
Until you don’t even get the time to huff and puff.
OH NO! Oh dear! you cry
But till then you can’t remove them how much ever you try.

Attacking pages which never end,
And there’s nothing we can do to defend.
We just wait and wait,
For the class after math, we never get late.

There are some exceptions,
Always ready to oppose us,
They love Algebra, Geometry and Fractions,
They hug it, and like us, nobody runs!

But why are all the mandatory things
Especially boring?
That textbook math, my dear
Is what I most loath and fear.

You see it crawling up your spine
That horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE swine.
That venomous creature of all
Math, my dear friend remember this, pride comes before a fall.

One fine day, I shall show
That my scores are high and your’s?L — O — W
I work hard the whole day
Math my dear, laugh as much as you may.

Who knows when you will get a chance
When you start to dance.
On my, M — Y tune
Because, to fight my practice you won’t have the immune.

Can textbook math be loved?
No, it can only be snubbed.
Everybody loves thing called puzzle,
As much as you give us we can guzzle.

There are some good puzzles,
Which everybody loves.
There is always a new pattern,
Which makes it fun.

Math, could you, be more kind?
Those dreadful sums PLEASE don’t ever find.
PLEASE stop this torture,
A better self of yours PLEASE nurture!
