How to Apply the Kaizen Method

The kaizen method is one mainly used for companies, where the goal of this method is to help improve the company 1 step at a time through goal setting. And since companies can use, we can also apply it to our own self improvement

But let’s start with what is the Kaizen method.

Kaizen is a productivity method where the focus is on constant improvement. The objective is to grow continuosly little by little as you progress with your goals. By doing this you can reduce the paralysis that comes when we want to do everything at the same time yet seem unable to do so.

Focus on improving a little bit every day, rather than focusing only on your goal. By doing this you can reduce the anxiety from any task and focus only on getting it done. Accepting progress as a continuum should also reduce procrastination, because now you understand that unless you do it, there is no way you can improve

We have to start by considering time as a resource. We need to think of it as something that gets consumed and as such we have a limit. This is something we all know and consider most of the time, but even though we do indeed consider it, the number of times where we really apply it is few and far in between

So start by changing your framework. Each day dedicate some time to understanding that time is limited and that we have to make the most of it. Respect your time by doing what you need

Now that you have started thinking of your time in a different way, the next step is to understand that to make the most of your time you need order. We usually live surrounded by chaos, we have too many things we need to do, and this in turn means that we get little to nothing accomplished

So show your respect for your own time by sitting down and writing what you need to accomplish every day. This will get rid of the lag we have when we need to decide on which task to foccus and use our energy in a smoother way
