Getting over the insistence that I should get another life, that moving out has become necessary, the great shift of space, bringing the ego into new spaces but nothing strengthened the shoulders to handle this, to bring this world into

the conception of others, or even looking rosy yourself, strained acceptance of an attitude that can’t seem to shift, the selfishness of living with people and wanting to be there but not wanting them, and still the beer goes on flowing, regular, peaceful, Kokanee, Rickards, the obscure Dutch beers whose names always escapes me till I’m looking at them

Mooseheads and wine, occasional rum, threading existence with its true alcoholic flavour and loving the distance, the inhibition-free world of alighting on the deck for a cigarette as a single, yet necessarily repeated, instance of magic that no one seems to disagree with.
