Contact form using EmailJS

I have been working on my portfolio website for a while, and my contact page that I have been working on would have a contact form. I recently came across a very cool service called EmailJS, its a third party service that makes adding Email capability to your React project quick and easy. EmailJS allows you to send all your emails without any backend logic, by just using a public key and parsing your form inputs into a simple Javascript object. It also provides statistics and the ability to create your own email template.

So I decided to implement it in my app, and I would like to show you how I used EmailJS to add email functionality to my React project.

Contact form

Basically when a user clicks on submit, the information entered in the form will be emailed to an address designated by us.

Once you are in, you will be directed to this dashboard.

EmailJs dashboard

In the EmailJs Services section, click on Add New Service.

Select the email service you would like to use.

Email JS services

After selecting one of the services (Gmail in my case), Choose a name and a service id. You could just keep the default ones, they can be whatever you want.

Make sure you connect your account. Write down the service id somewhere, we’ll be using it in the JavaScript file.
